WHO ARE YOU? TELL ME MORE ABOUT FARMINGDALE MEAT MARKET PLEASE AND WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH MAIN STREET WHOLESALE MEATS?
This website is run by Farmingdale Meat Market, a family owned butcher shop located at 210 Main Street in Farmingdale, NY. We also operate Main Street Wholesale Meats which is our division that sells to restaurants, country clubs, hotels and other high-end eating establishments all over the Tri-State Area. Our company was founded in 1946 by Julius Seelig and is currently run by Kent Seelig and Lee Seelig (son and grandson of Julius). The only reason we can do home deliveries to such a large delivery area is because of our wholesale division and fleet of 14 trucks.
ARE YOU CHARGING A DELIVERY FEE?
Free delivery is now available to all of Long Island, New York City, and specific parts of Westchester and Connecticut (on orders over $200)! There is a $10 delivery fee on orders less than $200. As always, our In-Store or Curbside Pickup options are available by visiting us in Farmingdale.
DO YOU HAVE ORDER MINIMUMS?
Yes, to make this economically possible, we have to have order minimums. If you live in Farmingdale in the 11735 Zip Code we have a $50 minimum. All of Nassau County and Western Suffolk County have a $100 minimum. Out East (North Fork and South Fork, Hamptons) have a $150 order minimum. NYC, BK, Westchester have a $200 order minimum. If you can’t meet the minimum for your area, you can always place an order for in-store pick up which we can get ready for the next day. Or, to meet the minimum, you can ask a friend or a neighbor to bulk up your order and split it with them.

WHAT TIME WILL MY DELIVERY SHOW UP ON MY DELIVERY DAY?
We route our trucks every morning based on the orders we have (retail house deliveries and wholesale) and we really won’t know what time it will show up until the truck is on the road. If you have a very specific time request for your delivery, please mention that in the NOTES when checking out or send us an email at info@mainstreetmeats.com with your order number and request.
FOR MY HOUSE DELIVERY, CAN YOU LEAVE THE MEAT ON THE FRONT PORCH?
Sure, we can do that for you, just specify that in the NOTES when you place your order. Please be aware that all of our orders travel in refrigerated vehicles but are NOT packed with ice bricks so your order should NOT stay outside for too long when the weather is warm. We are happy to do contactless delivery and leave it on the front porch for you, but please get the meat inside and in your fridge or freezer as soon as possible.
HOW ARE YOUR PRICES FIGURED OUT? HOW CAN ALL OF YOUR CHICKENS ALL WEIGH EXACTLY 3.50 LBS? DOESN’T EACH BIRD HAVE A DIFFERENT WEIGHT? WHEN I COME IN THE STORE I ALWAYS PAY “PER POUND” BUT ON THIS SITE IT LOOKS LIKE I AM PAYING “PER ITEM.”
Yes, you are right, in the butcher shop we put your item on the scale and charge you per pound based on the exact weight of the item. For the online store, we have already figured out the minimum that the item will weigh and we are only charging you for that weight. By assigning minimum weights to our products, we are able to show you the final price you will pay (along with the price per lb.) for each item. Also, from a payment standpoint, it enables you to checkout right when you place your order making the process more efficient. This works out in your favor: since the weights are minimums, you will never get less than what you are billed for. You will only get more weight and more value.
I ORDERED TWO WEEKS AGO AND NOW I’M ORDERING AGAIN AND THE PRICES ARE DIFFERENT. WHY?
Prices are subject to change based on market conditions. With such a variety of products, we are constantly updating our pricing to reflect our variable costs and to provide you with the best final prices possible. The price you pay will be the price per lb. on the website on the day you make your purchase (not the day your delivery arrives). So, if you order 6 days in advance it certainly is possible a different price might appear for one or more items on your order. Please know you have a 50/50% chance of an item going slightly up or slightly down so over the long run it will all average out. We can’t change prices once the order is placed and already paid for.
WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THE GIFT CARDS?
We now have TWO different types of gift cards: Physical gift cards that you can hold and touch and put in your wallet. These physical gift cards can only be purchased in-person at Farmingdale Meat Market and can only be redeemed at our store in-person. Digital e-gift cards that are emailed to you and are codes that you can enter into the website. Digital e-gift cards are only available for purchase online and can only be used online. (You can’t use the digital gift cards in our brick and mortar store and you can’t use the physical gift cards on our website. Hopefully this all makes sense.)
WHAT IS YOUR 1946 BLEND GROUND BEEF ALL ABOUT? WHY CAN’T I FIND THAT ANYWHERE ELSE?
Our 1946 Blend of ground beef is our proprietary upgraded ground beef product. Our “regular” 80/20 ground meat is great. Our 1946 Blend is even better than great! You will not find the 1946 Blend anywhere else because Farmingdale Meat Market is the only one who makes it! You either have to buy it from us or eat in one of the restaurants that we sell wholesale. The 1946 Blend contains a mixture of Wagyu Briskets, Aged USDA Prime Rib Cap Meat, Boneless Short Ribs and Angus Chuck. The reason we call it our 1946 Blend is because 1946 is the year that Julius Seelig founded Farmingdale Meat Market and it is also the year that Kent Seelig was born.
WHAT IS DRY AGING ALL ABOUT?
Dry Aging Beef is a process where larger pieces of meat (called “sub primals”) are left in our aging cooler for approximately 21-28 days and are left to air out and sit. Meat is muscle and muscle is made up largely of water so when you let the meat sit the water content in the muscle decreases as the water in the muscle evaporates. The aging rooms are specifically designed and monitored for temperature, humidity, airflow and contain anti-microbial lighting. The resulting beef has a distinct flavor profile that most meat eaters savor. Dry Aged Beef is more expensive than regular beef because of the weight lost in the aging rooms and the extra processing time it takes to generate the steak cuts that end up on your plate. Even though dry aged meat is generally considered “better,” the dry aged flavor is not for everyone... try it today to see if you are a fan!
WHAT DOES USDA CHOICE AND USDA PRIME MEAN?
All meat is graded by the USDA. We only sell USDA Choice and USDA Prime beef on this website which are the two highest grades of beef. Choice is really good beef. Prime is even better! What makes beef Prime is the higher amount of “marbling” which is the intramuscular fat (or white specks) you see in a piece of meat. The more marbling, the higher the fat content which will result in a juicier, tastier eating experience.
WHAT IS AKAUSHI WAGYU BEEF?
Wagyu Beef is beef that comes from animals of Japanese descent that were raised outside of Japan. Akaushi refers to the specific breed of cattle. All Akaushi beef is Wagyu….but not all Wagyu is Akaushi. There are many different breeds of Wagyu beef….we have found Akaushi beef to be the absolute best in terms of flavor and affordability. If you haven’t tried Akaushi beef, you are missing out!
WILL EVERYTHING BE FREEZER WRAPPED?
Yes, we pack all items so you can put them in your freezer and everything is wrapped as you request (within reason). We understand you probably want to freeze items and we’ll package everything accordingly.
HOW LONG WILL MY ITEMS LAST IN THE FREEZER?
As long as your freezer is cold, your meat can last MONTHS in the freezer. Just Google it because different species (beef, pork, chicken, lamb) have different shelf life when refrigerated and frozen. Just Google it and you’ll find all the info you need.
WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THE CRYO PACKAGING? MY MEAT LOOKS A LITTLE BROWNISH, IS THAT OKAY?
It is perfectly normal for your meat to turn a little dark in the cryo packaging. The simple reason for that is because all of the oxygen has been sucked out of the package so the meat changes color a little bit. Once you open up the package and the air hits the meat, the meat will “bloom” which means turn back to red in color. Do not fear if your meat is not bright red in the package, that is normal!
WHAT ABOUT CORONAVIRUS? IS THIS SAFE?
Yes, according to the FDA there has been no evidence of the transmission of the Coronavirus from food or food packaging. We clean and sanitize our facility multiple times per day. We have a comprehensive food safety and quality assurance program that ensures you receive only the safest products to your door.
WHY DOESN’T THE MEAT I RECEIVED LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE PHOTO ON YOUR SITE?
We aren’t selling lightbulbs here people! All steaks will look a little different and that is part of the fun. We have a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are not happy with anything you receive, just let us know. But please know that all steaks or other items will vary slightly from the photos and we promise they all will be equally as good!
WHAT I RECEIVED ISN’T WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
We pride ourselves on our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you aren’t happy with an item or anything on your order, please email us at info@mainstreetmeats.com and we’ll do everything we can to rectify the situation in a timely manner. We’ve been here since 1946. We are not going anywhere. We’ll fix the problem and make it right.
